I found this on Facebook, and it touched me so much that I wanted to share it. The author is unknown, but it's from an album called Beautiful Sentiments, by Angel Parisa. Clicking on the picture will make it larger so you can read it better.
Gino, my furry little friend, is that stray who came into our lives just before Scamp had to be put to sleep. I wasn't even sure I wanted another pet, because at that time when my husband saw his picture on a store window, Scamp was having health problems and not doing very well. Bruce insisted on calling the number on the picture of the dog in the store window, and one evening while I was at work, the lady from P.A.L., brought Gino to our house and as sick as Scamp was, Bruce told me he actually got up from the floor and walked out to the back yard with Gino. He said Scamp seemed to feel better seeing another dog. The lady took Gino back with her as she was just checking to see where we lived and if Gino was coming into a good home. That was the last time Scamp saw Gino. About a week later, he had to be put to sleep. We had already told the lady we wanted Gino, but I was so upset, I just couldn't think about getting another dog. I told her I just needed a little time. I actually felt guilty about bringing another dog into the house, but Bruce reminded me that Scamp liked him and he thought Scamp would want him here.
A few weeks later Gino arrived while I was at work again in the evening. He barked at me when I came home and he actually paced back and forth from the dining room to the living room front door, and would stand up on his hind legs and sniff the door handle because I think he knew that's where the nice people who had him before us left, and he wanted to go back with them. I felt so sad for him, but told him he would get used to us and gave him lots of love. He's been with us since then, about 8 years ago. But he was one of those dogs who was neglected and running the neighborhood during a cold winter and was so cold, his hair matted and frozen, and so skinny, that they didn't know if he was going to make it! Bruce says he survived for a reason...to come live with us because Scamp was going to leave us. I think we got the O.K. from Scamp now. I will always love you Scamp!!

What a touching story, Dorothy. Thank you for sharing about how Gino came to live with you. It does sound like Scamp gave you all his blessing.
Hugs!
Stopped by to wish a good week.
Kiss of Nita.
